Why Breakthrough
Consulting?
-
Autism is
an epidemic
– According to
statistics,
autism affects
an estimated 1
in 166 births
these days.
Twenty years
ago, the
prevalence was
estimated to be
only 1 in 2,500
births. This
debilitating
disorder
typically
appears during
the first three
years of life,
impacting a
child’s ability
to speak,
understand
language, and
socialize with
others. Studies
find that autism
is four times
more prevalent
in males than
females. Autism
is a spectrum
disorder,
meaning affected
children often
exhibit varying
levels of
behaviors and
capabilities.
-
Autism is
treatable – There
isn’t agreement as
to the cause of
autism or the long
term prognosis among
researchers,
scientists, medical
professionals,
government agencies,
and parents;
frequently discussed
causes include brain
abnormalities,
genetic
predisposition,
and/or exposure to
toxins from the
environment. Despite
this uncertainty,
there is an
abundance of
science/research,
support
organizations, and
treatment
possibilities to
help treat children
with autism.
-
Breakthrough can help –
Breakthrough
Consulting is all
about helping
parents break
through the vast sea
of information,
contradicting
opinions, and varied
treatment options
to hone in on what
is best for their
child. To be an effective
advocate, parents
must balance
evaluating
treatments,
determining funding
options, managing
service providers,
and supportings
their "normal" life as best as
possible. If you are
a parent new to an
autism diagnosis or
a parent who is
feeling overwhelmed
or stuck in your
current treatment
path, you can be
certain that
Breakthrough will
provide helpful
services, tools, and
resources to get the
results you and your
child deserve.

About Jack
-
Something wasn’t
right with Jack
at 15 months. He
had limited
language, was
very lethargic,
and wasn’t
connecting with
people. His
favorite
activity was to
rock in his
bouncy seat and
stare at the
television. He
wouldn’t respond
when his name
was called and
his eye contact
was virtually
nonexistent.
Consulting with
a host of
different
medical and
educational
professionals,
Jack's family
spent the next
two years
searching for
help, answers,
and treatment.
Jack was
diagnosed with
autism shortly
after his third
birthday. Since
then, he has
made significant
progress through
intensive
one-on-one
therapies.
Though the road
ahead is long
for Jack, we
remain focused
on our goal to
have him lead
an independent,
happy, and
fulfilling life.
